Jack Perry, MD, FAAOS is a board certified and fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Dr. Perry is Co-Founder of Smart Medical Devices, Inc. and serves as Director of the Scientific Advisory Board. As Director of the Scientific Advisory Board, he is facilitating the transfer of SMARTdrill® technology to surgical suites.
Dr. Perry graduated with highest distinction from the University of Michigan in 1986 and graduated cum laude from the University of Michigan Medical School in 1991. Dr. Perry completed a surgical internship and flight surgeon training in the US Navy. After finishing military tours with the marine and naval forces he completed an orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Hawaii in 1999 and a fellowship at Duke University in 2000 treating athletic injuries and reconstructions.
Dr. Perry led the Orthopaedic Service at Mammoth Hospital in Mammoth Lakes, California for 10 years. During his tenure at Mammoth, Dr. Perry built the S.P.O.R.T. center and established a fellowship in orthopaedic fracture care, complex athletic injuries and reconstruction. Dr. Perry now practices in Melbourne, Florida. He specializes in complex reconstruction, joint arthroplasty (including robotic techniques), complex soft tissue reconstructions/arthroscopies and bone malunion, bone deformity correction and bone salvage surgeries.
Dr. Perry is an active member of the AO North America Faculty. His responsibilities include teaching other surgeons in traumatic orthopaedic injury management. He has multiple peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, and has given national presentations. Dr. Perry has served as Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Nevada School of Medicine, Reno, and at the University of San Diego School of Medicine. Dr. Perry also served for over a decade as a team physician for the United States Ski and Snow Board Team.
Dr. Perry is a co-inventor on additional pending patents regarding SMD’s Dual-Force RoboticsTM.
Michael Karch, MD, FAOOS is a board certified and fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon. He is a fellow of the Academy of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. Dr. Karch specializes in orthopaedic trauma, anterior hip replacement, total knee replacement, complex revision hip, knee arthroplasty and knee arthroscopy.
Dr. Karch graduated magna cum laude from the University of Delaware and with honors from the Georgetown University School of Medicine in 1995. Following a surgical intern year at Loma Linda University Medical Center and additional years of general surgery training, he completed his orthopaedic surgery training at Georgetown. Dr. Karch completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine and Trauma at the Taos Orthopaedic Institute, in Taos New Mexico, concentrating on advanced arthroscopic techniques, ski and snowboard injuries and complex periarticular trauma. He has trained in Advanced and Masters AO trauma techniques domestically and in Europe.
Dr. Karch is the Founder of the Mammoth Winter Biathlon, Founder and Chairman of the Mammoth Mass Casualty Seminar, co-founder of Mammoth Medical Missions 501(c)(3), Co-Founder of Smart Medical Device, Inc. and a member of its Scientific Advisory Board. Dr. Karch is an Associate Clinical Professor of Orthopaedics at the University of Nevada, School of Medicine and has been a team physician for the United States Ski and Snowboard Team since 2002.
Dr. Karch was one of the first physicians on site at Ground Zero on September 11, 2001. Building on his experience with 9/11 and his liaison with the US Military, Dr. Karch developed and led the very first civilian Forward Surgical Teams to international disaster zones.
Dr. Karch was a co-recipient of the Adelina Award, the highest honor awarded for humanitarian work in the Philippines, for his work leading the Forward Surgical Team that deployed to Tacloban City in the Philippines just after the super storm Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) made landfall.
Dr. Karch has received two letters of commendation from the President of the United States of America. Internationally, Dr. Karch is recognized for his instruction in mass casualty medicine based upon his real experiences in disaster zones.
Dr. Karch rus a 200 acre family owned beef cattle, meat goat and poultry ranch operation in the Shenandoah Valley, Virginia.

Wayne Anderson, MD, MBA is a board certified anesthesiologist specializing in orthopaedic anesthesia. Dr. Anderson has served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Smart Medical Devices, Inc. since 2010.
Dr. Anderson received his BA (summa cum laude, 1983) in biochemistry and cell biology and his MD (Joseph Collins Fellow, 1987) from the University of California, San Diego. He completed his internal medicine internship at the University of California, Los Angeles in 1988 and his anesthesiology residency at Stanford University in 1991 with a subspecialty in cardiac anesthesia. While at Stanford, he also completed a post-doctoral fellowship in immunology, studying the mechanisms of immunologically mediated diseases. Dr. Anderson received his MBA with honors (Delta Mu Delta) from Pepperdine University in 1999 and finished programs in object oriented programming and database management at the University of California, Los Angeles in 2003.
Dr. Anderson worked as a staff anesthesiologist at Mammoth Hospital in Mammoth Lakes, California from 2004 to 2014. He served as chief of surgery in 2013. Dr. Anderson also served as Medical Director and oversaw three complex research programs for Hillcrest Medical Clinic, Inc. in Newbury Park, California (2001-2013).
Dr. Anderson participates in medical mission work throughout the world. In addition, Dr. Anderson was a physician member of the first two civilian Forward Surgical Teams ever deployed into international disaster zones.
Dr. Anderson was a co-recipient of the Adelina Award, the highest honor awarded for humanitarian work in the Philippines, for his work with the Forward Surgical Team that deployed to Tacloban City in the Philippines just after the super storm Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) made landfall.
Dr. Anderson has been awarded several patents including two US patents, a european patent 38 member states and four other international patents. He has authored numerous publications in various journals including Molecular Pharmacology, the Annals of the New York Academy of Science, the Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, the Journal of Clinical Monitoring, and the Canadian Journal of Anesthesia. Dr. Anderson published his ISP thesis on the production of artificial enzymes at the UCSD, School of Medicine.
